Live in the Moment...

Within the next few minutes, you are going to spend a few precious strokes of theclock reading a happiness mantra, which I wish to share with those longing to rid themselves of the habit of worrying. Life is one big rollercoaster taking you to pits and peaks without any forewarning. Times are tough, the tide is high and there is no exception to fate. Believe me, even Mr Bean and Charlie Chaplin have had their fair share of misery, worry and soul wrenching pain. The trick, however, lies in letting your mind rule over your heart – optimism over pessimism and hope and faith over brooding. In the words of Helen Keller, ‘Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it’.

Flowers bloom out of the dark, dawn breaks through the night, a new life is born only after a mother’s rigorous labour and pain is always followed by happiness of some sort. Many of us fail to find this simple truth, therefore many turn to personas like Jesus, Allah or Vishnu. We find comfort in complaining, rather than thinking rationally. It’s like playing the toughest video game on earth without using the cheat codes that are just a click away... Yet, the happiness for which we are all striving is already within us. Only it takes time and effort to excavate it from the depth of our soul.

If a troubling situation is at hand and a tough decision is to be made then think logically and work hard, but in the end if nothing really works out then have the courage to shrug your shoulders and leave things the way they are. Time will work its magic! Be bold enough to start again from scratch. Steve Maraboli’s priceless words are etched in my memory for its magnificent power of inspiration:

When a new day begins,

Dare to smile gratefully.

When you are beaten down,

Dare to fight back.

When you are tired,

Dare to keep going.

When times are tough,

Dare to be tougher.

When love hurts,

Dare to love again

DARE TO BE THE BEST YOU CAN…

AT ALL TIMES, DARE TO BE!

We are travelling at a lightning speed towards our grave. What seems very far off may not really be that far. With the time we have socialise, make friends, enjoy your work, do your best and leave the rest to God. Do everything with love in your heart and don’t do it any other way. Live! Just live for this minute.

Get one thing straight. It’s okay to feel pain, to feel love – just feel it without hiding. Come out from under the protective covers, from behind the rigid walls and suffocating personas, and take a breath of life. We are endlessly complaining about missing the so-called ‘gifts’ in life like high grades, designer outfits and granite-floored homes. Our biggest gift is our life, the chance to live on this precious planet. Why spoil this wonderful gift by plaguing it with hate, angst, jealousy and self-pity! Just shake off all worries and tantrums. Be a sport and stay contented, whether you’re in Antarctica or Arabia. Make the best out of every moment.

‘Relish the moment’ is a good motto. It isn’t the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets of yesterday and fears of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today. Stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, make more friends, swim more rivers and watch more sunsets! Laugh more, cry less, love a lot and don’t hate. Because despite all the sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world!
